Looking to enhance your small business on a limited budget? I got you guys!
Websites If you don’t have one already, set up a website! You don’t have to invest a huge amount (especially if you’re brand new and low on funds to invest) because now we’re lucky enough to have sites like Wix who offer a free site if you’re not looking to have an e-commerce store just yet. Be aware, however, that they do have an ad banner at the top of your site if you decide to go this route.
Blogs Not keen on the idea of a website on a budget route? What about a blog? If you like to ramble and chat like me then try your hand at blogging, even if it’s only monthly to begin with. WordPress are my faves (obvs) and in turn this will help you reach that wider audience you’re desperate to attract whilst on a budget. You can even go one step further and share your posts to Pinterest (Canva do great templates for pins so it takes a lot of the design stress out of it for you if you’re not a designer). Both of these options are powerful tools to help you reach a wider audience because it also means you’re not relying on social media platforms alone; remember the great blackout of 2021? *shudder*
Loyalty Cards These have pulling power and encourage return custom. We’ve all been there, whether it’s collecting your stars on the Starbucks app or 10% off your next cut & colour. You don’t need to have a physical store either thanks to Shopify and their reward system. Do a bit of shopping around, check out your competitors, and see what works best for you and what rewards are cost effective to your small business.
Product Photography Investing in a photographer is of course the best option (extra bonus points if they specialise in your industry) but it’s also the most expensive. My advice if you’re doing it yourself is to spend as much time making sure your lighting is spot on as possible. It can make such a difference. Go outside if you have to, just make sure you get that good light! Or invest in a good ring light and get yourself a professional style set up at home.
Do you do any of these or something else? Let me know in the comments!
